Sometimes The Last Person On Earth You Want To Be With Is The One Person You Can't Be Without

When I saw this tagline on the DVD cover of the Pride & Prejudice movie, I knew I just had to watch the movie. I mean I kinda boycotted this 2005 version (starring Kiera Knighley) cos I'm such an ardent fan of the 1940's Lawrence Olivier version. I mean compare Lawrence Olivier to Matthew Mcfadden...surely you can see why I adore the older version of Pride & Prejudice (though many die hard Jane Austen fans don't seem to fancy this version cos the storyline's been amended...but who cares...as long as the main actor is a leng chai...)

Lawrence Olivier - Distinguished looking and with class (perfect for the role of the odious Mr Darcy)

Matthew McFadden - Old, tired looking and messy (Need I say more???)

But after watching the movie, I realised I've been totally prejudiced against Matthew McFadden and also the movie and my pride and stubborness has caused me to miss out on a very good movie. Though I still prefer the 1940s version. The 2005 version seem to be a bit draggy at times and of course Matthew McFadden failed to live up to the role of Mr Darcy. But overall, an enjoyable movie especially for those who have never watched any version of Pride & Prejudice before. It is a nice story. Jane Austen is an amazing author to think of such a story during her time...probably very scandalous...

Anyway, I've been digressing...my blog entry wasn't supposed to be about the movie but the tagline of the movie...

Sometimes the Last Person On Earth You Want To Be With Is The One Person You Can't Live Without

Hmm...how true is this quote? In the movie, it was very applicable...I mean Elizabeth Bennet said that the last person on Earth she would ever marry was the high and mighty Mr Darcy, but she ended up falling for the guy and marrying him.

Well, when you come to think of it...most romance movies seem to take this stand...girl hates guy, girl falls in love with guy she hates, girl marries guy she hates whom she now loves.

Take Beauty and The Beast for example...Belle dislikes the Beast cos he's ugly and frightening...Belle falls in love with his kindness and love for her...Belle marries Beast who has turned into a handsome prince. Hmm...mushy mushy love stories. But then again, who can resist a happy ever ending? Those that make your heart flutter and dance with happiness to see the happy couple finally admitting their feelings towards each other and ending up together.

But does this happen in real life? Is it possible to hate a person and end up being with him in the future? Well, I'm not experienced in this matters but people have always said that love and hate are opposite sides of the coin. So, maybe this is true, it is possible to hate a person...but then realise that you've actually made the wrong perception on that person and end up falling in .

Well, I should know this...I'm always judging people based on first impressions. I'm trying to kick this bad habit but I just can't help it. If I don't like your face when I first see you...then it's just too bad...I can't be your friend. Horrible I know but this is just me. Of course this doesn't mean that I'll dislike that person forever. Sometimes after getting to know the person a little bit more I do realise I've been a bad judge of character and that person is actually a nice person. Of course this rarely happens cos I believe that my intuition is always working at top notch. Haha...and that means I don't make mistakes when it comes to first impressions.

I guess that the tagline for the movie is thus possible in real life. And to those who find that you dislike a particular person and is always saying that he's the last person you'll ever marry...do be careful...you may end up having to eat your own words later on.

Superman Returns

Went to watch Superman Returns with my colleagues yesterday night. First time to be watching such a late night show. Hmm...never realised that so many people don't need to sleep at night. The cinema was super packed with people. Felt as if it was afternoon...I mean you can't really tell whether it's day or night inside the shopping mall can you?

Anyway, the movie started off by explaining why Superman has been gone for 5 years. Supposedly he flew off into outer space in search of his planet Krypton after getting news from some astronomers that his planet still exists and being the busybody that he is, he just had to find out for himself whether this was true. So off he went into the dark and gloomy universe, unfortunately, he couldn't find any trace of Krypton so back he came to planet Earth. Well, I'm not exactly sure where Krypton is supposed to be but apparently it must be super far from planet Earth cos even the Man of Steel who is faster than a speeding bullet and even a rocket to take 2 years to fly there and 2 years to fly back...and probably 1 year visiting some alien friends on the way...

Huh...din know Krypton is soooo far...why am I such a stubborn idiot wanting to find out if Kryton is still around?

Well, when he came back, he realised that humans have managed to survive prettty well without him and everyone (including Lois Lane and Lex Luthor) have moved on with their lives. And of course, Superman is not too happy, I mean, how can people have forgotten him...he was a Superhero not too long ago and 5 years without people snapping your photos can really get to you. Oh, Superman truly crave the attention and miss feeling useful so much so that he has to appear on every tv channel across the world (even waving here and there when his photo was being taken).

Just like any Superman story, Lex Luthor again causes some trouble and it's up to Superman to save the world from the evil guy while making sure he got the pretty Lois Lane on his side once again. Can't tell more ler or I'll spoil the show for you people. All in all, an enjoyable show...lotsa action and funny bits here and there. Though I just can't accept Superman's rubbery costume. Apparently, latex price has come down and he decided that to save cost, he should start using rubber. Anyway, people are always saying rubber protects.

Me in my rubbery suit...hey, rubber protects...and helps to support the rubber industry Malaysia...Anyway, don't ya just love my hair and my beautifully shaped brows and lined eyes?

Was happy to find out that James Marsden acted in Superman Returns. Super adored him as X-Men's Cyclops. Though he must have gone through a great slimming programme. Found him too thin in Superman Returns. Must have forced him to go on a diet so he'll look scrawny beside Superman. Guess the directors don't want him overshadowing Superman. Sad thing for me. Though he still looks good as Richard but just can't compare to when he's Cyclops.

Super Leng Chai...drool....

So, it's quite a good show. Do go watch it for entertainment. Enjoy.
